Pia Wood
Dr. Pia Wood is Associate Provost at University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
From 2009-2010 she served as President of the Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA).

Prior arriving at UTK, Pia served for eight years as Director for the Center for International Studies at Wake Forest University. Before that, she spent six years as director of the International Studies undergraduate program at Old Dominion University.

Earlier in her career, Pia was an assistant professor and associate professor in the department of political science and geography at Old Dominion and a visiting professor in the Department of National Security Studies at the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama.

She has taught at Bates Colleges in Lewiston, Maine, and at the Woodrow Wilson School for Government and Foreign Affairs at the University of Virginia.

David DiMaria
President-Elect and Treasurer
Dr. David L. Di Maria serves as Associate Provost for International Programs at Montana State University. 

Prior to joining Montana State, Dr. Di Maria served as director of international programs and services at Kent State University.

He has also held several volunteer leadership positions including AIRC External Reviewer, Core Education Program Dean for NAFSA’s Basics of Effective U.S. International Admissions eight-hour workshop, Regional Liaison Outreach Coordinator for NAFSA’s International Enrollment Management Knowledge Community (KC IEM), Chair-elect of KC IEM and KC IEM Liaison to the 2015 Annual Conference Committee.

Ross Jennings
Past President
Ross Jennings is the Vice President of International Programs & Extended Learning at Green River College. Prior to this position he was employed at Edmonds Community College.
Jennings was appointed to serve on NACAC’s Commission on International Student Recruitment. He has presented at numerous conferences and was funded by State Department to serve in Education USA initiatives in Asia and North Africa. His college has also been awarded State Department grant funded programs for student leaders from the Subcontinent, the Middle East and North Africa every year since 2007, the only community college to receive a grant for the program. He has also been a leader among community colleges in developing programs and recruitment sources in China, with GRCC enrollment from that country currently topping 500.

Mary Marquez Bell
Mary Marquez Bell is the Vice President for Enrollment Services at SUNY College at Old Westbury. Previously she worked in the Office of Admission Services at the City University of New York (CUNY)  In addition, she acted as the CUNY central administration's representative to the Council of International Student Advisors (COISA), a CUNY-wide council consisting of all CUNY Directors of International Admission and Student Support Services from each of the campuses.

Gary Bergman
Gary Bergman is the president and founder of College Study US Inc. a US based agency that works with international students and an extensive number of sub agencies around the world who are dedicated to assisting students enroll in US universities.

Mr. Bergman has served as the senior enrollment officer at numerous universities including Long Island University, Hofstra University, Bradley University and National College. He has been active in many NACAC, NAFSA, ICEF and AIRC programs, conferences and events.

For the past 13 years Gary has devoted himself to enhancing opportunities for international students to come to the United States to continue their education. 

Kirsten Feddersen
Kirsten Feddersen, is the Associate Vice President International Programs for Southern New Hampshire University. Previously she has worked as the Manager of International Recruitment and Agency Operations at the State University of New York (SUNY) System Administration. In Denmark she worked in the international office at Aarhus University and EDU Danmark, the largest educational agency in Denmark.  EDU Danmark was among the first eight agencies to undergo and be awarded AIRC certification, a process in which Kirsten played a key role. 

Kirsten is a frequent presenter on agency recruitment at international higher education conferences. 

Bryan Gross
Bryan Gross currently serves as the Vice President for Enrollment Management at Western New England University. He has served as an external reviewer for AIRC and at Western New England University he is a member of the President’s Cabinet, supervises the chair of the University’s Retention Committee, and serves as a member of our Diversity Design Committee. 

His prior positions have been the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management at St. John’s University in New York City and as the Associate Vice President for Admissions at the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, CT. 

He has also presented multiple times at regional and national NACAC and NAFSA conferences on topics related to best practices in domestic and international recruitment and new approaches in digital and social media marketing.

Sabine Klahr
Dr. Sabine C. Klahr serves as the Deputy Chief Global Officer at the University of Utah, overseeing international student recruiting among other global programs and initiatives. She is the immediate past President of the Association for International Education Administrators (AIEA) and has held several leadership roles with international education associations. Her doctoral research focused on study abroad and engineering education. She has published articles in peer reviewed journals and authored book chapters. Global learning has been part of her life since arriving in the U.S. as an exchange student from Germany. 

Palle Steen Jensen
Palle Steen Jensen is the General Manager and founder of EDU - the oldest and biggest student recruitment agency in Denmark.
This year, EDU supports 900 Danish students going abroad to one of our more than 45 university partners in the US, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and several destinations in Asia. He co-founded "Recruit Europe" and a network of European like-minded agencies to set standards and create mutual professional development. 
Before starting EDU, he held leadership positions in the youth section of a Danish political party and in a mid-size private Danish logistics company. He also serves on the board of a Danish communications agency and he is the IELTS administrator for Denmark.
EDU was one of the first eight agencies globally to receive AIRC Certification and has now been recertified up to 2024. 

Non Voting Board Members

Mike Finnell
Executive Director
Michael Finnell has three decades of experience in the international education and exchange field. Most recently he has been consulting in international education including developing new youth exchange organizations and an online course for university students and their parents as they prepare to study abroad. Prior to this he was is the President and CEO of Youth For Understanding USA. During his time with YFU he led the creation of new student exchange organizations in China, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Ghana, Liberia and Italy. He also served as Deputy Director in the International Secretariat of Youth For Understanding. Previously, he was the Director of World Affairs Programs at Meridian International Center, an Associate for Training and Member Services at the National Council for International Visitors (now Global Ties U.S.). Early in his career he also worked at NAFSA and at the Liaison Group for International Educational Exchange (now the Alliance for International Educational and Cultural Exchange). He holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Kansas and a M.A. in International Affairs from the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Finnell has also previously resided in Japan, Italy and Germany for fourteen years.

Jeet Joshee
Certification Commission Chair

As Associate Vice President for International Education and Dean of the College of Continuing and Professional Education (CCPE) at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), Dr. Jeet Joshee oversees all international activities at the university.

Before moving to CSULB, Dr. Joshee was Dean of the College of Extended Learning at Cal State San Bernardino. 

Previously, Dr. Joshee was Assistant Dean and Associate Professor in the College of Continuing Studies at University of Connecticut. Dr. Joshee has also held positions at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the Division of Continuing Education.
