George Kacenga
President
George F. Kacenga is the Executive Director of Global Engagement at Purdue University Northwest. 
Professionally, Dr. Kacenga is an active member of several professional associations including NAFSA: Association of International Educators’ Leadership Development Committee, American International Recruitment Council (AIRC) as the chair of the conference planning committee, Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA), The Association

for International Credential Evaluation Professionals (TAICEP), American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), and the Fund for Education Abroad (FEA). He recently joined the TAICEP Committee for Fundraising as chair, in addition to serving on a steering committee for FEA.

Previously, he has held administrative positions as the Director for International Enrollment Management for the Office of International Affairs (OIA) at the University of Colorado Denver, University of Pittsburgh, Point Park University, and Saint Vincent College.


Steven Boyd
President Elect

Steven Boyd is the Director of International Admissions at the University of Bridgeport. He has worked in domestic and international admissions for the past 15 years. He is responsible for all aspects of international student recruitment for both undergraduate and graduate programs. He previously served as Assistant Director of the English Language Institute at UB, Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions, and Director of Graduate Admissions. His work has taken him to over 55 countries.

Prior to joining UB, he lived with his wife and children in Latin America where for 20 years he worked as a teacher, simultaneous interpreter, international conference organizer, and translator for a major daily newspaper in Montevideo, Uruguay.

As an undergraduate, Steven studied in Guadalajara, Mexico. He has a BA in Liberal Arts, and an MBA in Marketing from the University of Bridgeport. He is a past presenter at NAFSA, AIRC, ICEF, EducationUSA Forum, and NACUBO.

Jeet Joshee
Past President

As Associate Vice President for International Education and Dean of the College of Continuing and Professional Education (CCPE) at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), Dr. Jeet Joshee oversees all international activities at the university.

Before moving to CSULB, Dr. Joshee was Dean of the College of Extended Learning at Cal State San Bernardino. 

Previously, Dr. Joshee was Assistant Dean and Associate Professor in the College of Continuing Studies at University of Connecticut. Dr. Joshee has also held positions at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the Division of Continuing Education. 

Salma Benhaida
Institutional Delegate

Salma Benhaida is the Director of International Recruitment, Admissions, and Sponsored Student Services at Kent State University where she overseas international recruitment and admissions over the eight-campus system. Salma also acts as liaison between Kent State University and various sponsoring agencies and foreign embassies to advance her institution’s objectives and strengthen bilateral collaborations. Salma started her career in international education while completing her Master’s at the University of Akron where she held a Graduate Assistantship in the Office of International Programs. She currently serves the NAFSA: Association for International Educators on their Trainer Corp team teaching International Recruitment and credential evaluation workshops. She also serves as the Recruitment, Advising, marketing & Admissions (RAMA) network leader in NAFSA’s International Enrollment Management knowledge community. Salma enjoys presenting at various national and international conferences (AIRC, NAFSA, OACAC, EducationUSA Forum). Salma is fluent in English, French and Arabic.

William Guo

William Guo is co-founder of Can-Achieve International Education since 2008. He graduated in 2000 from Beijing Foreign Studies University with a bachelor of art and worked in South Africa for over 2 years. He is an innovative entrepreneur in leading Can-Achieve to grow from a 9-staff, one office company to over 400 staff, 16 global offices around the world. In 2017, he successfully invited Bright Scholar, the largest K-12 company with over 60 schools to become our shareholder with 35000 students in their schools. He is also an educational investor in international high schools and education companies. 


Alyssa Roberts

I have been involved in international recruitment since 1999, when I founded EDU – the biggest and most experienced student recruitment agency in Denmark. For the first five years I was directly involved in student advising, but then gradually moved into a leadership and manager role. EDU now has a staff of 16 people and will this year support about 1,000 Danish students going abroad to our more than 50 university partners in the US, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Asia. EDU works as a British Council-appointed IELTS Center and I have the role as IELTS Administrator for Denmark. As part of my wish to create focus on quality-based student recruitment, I have co-founded a network of European like-minded agencies, to set standards and create mutual professional development for student recruitment across borders. The network has organized the two first European Agency Training Conferences, where agency staff from Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden got together to undertake two days of professional development. I use my participation at annual conferences like NAFSA, EAIE, AIRC and British Council's Going Global to enhance my knowledge about international recruitment, to expand my network and to keep up with trends and developments.
 


Sushil Sukhwani

Sushil is a Graduate of Commerce from the Mumbai University. After his Graduation he then pursued an MBA in Service Marketing from Bond University, Australia in 1991. Sushil spearheaded the concept of an overseas education consultancy in India in 1991 and established Edwise in India which was the primary overseas education consultancy of its kind.

Edwise under the management of Sushil is the end to end solution for a student’s complete international study needs & is today India’s Leading Overseas Education Consultancy. Sushil’s professional portfolio not only ends with being the director of India’s leading overseas education consultancy. He is also the Director of Blue Star Travels, a travel agency which is one of Western India’s largest. Apart from this he is also a Director in Micro Solutions Private Limited, a franchisee of Aptech Limited, which deals with training students on various softwares and programming languages.

Michael B. Wilhelm

 Michael Wilhelm is currently the Associate Vice Chancellor of International Programs at University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW), and is directly responsible for Education Abroad, International Student and Scholar Services and the CEA-Accredited English as a Second Language program.  As the Senior International Officer, Michael leads campus-wide international student recruitment efforts, globalization of the curriculum and faculty training, grants and support for international activities.  Michael has been involved in international education at state universities for the last twenty years and has specialized in student and scholar services, immigration policy and recruitment at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.  He is active in NAFSA and International ACAC and a frequent presenter at national and international conferences.

Abhijit Zaveri

Abhijit Zaveri is the Founder and Managing Director of Career Mosaic Pvt Ltd. He is an MBA from University of New Have, Connecticut (USA). Having been an international student in USA himself, Career Mosaic was setup in 2001 by him to guide and assist aspiring students to achieve their study abroad dreams. Abhijit Zaveri and his team always are in close communication with senior university officals and agency partners, as they work directly with them. 

Career Mosaic is a regular particiapant of the AIRC (https://www.airc-education.org), ICEF (https://www.icef.com) NAFSA (https://www.nafsa.org) Confernces in USA and Canada. Abhijit routinley delivers presentations on Strageities for International Student Recruitment at the ICEF and AIRC conferences in North America.

 

Non Voting Board Members

Mike Finnell
Executive Director


 

Michael Finnell has three decades of experience in the international education and exchange field. Most recently he has been consulting in international education including developing new youth exchange organizations and an online course for university students and their parents as they prepare to study abroad. Prior to this he was is the President and CEO of Youth For Understanding USA. During his time with YFU he led the creation of new student exchange organizations in China, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Ghana, Liberia and Italy. He also served as Deputy Director in the International Secretariat of Youth For Understanding. Previously, he was the Director of World Affairs Programs at Meridian International Center, an Associate for Training and Member Services at the National Council for International Visitors (now Global Ties U.S.). Early in his career he also worked at NAFSA and at the Liaison Group for International Educational Exchange (now the Alliance for International Educational and Cultural Exchange). He holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Kansas and a M.A. in International Affairs from the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Finnell has also previously resided in Japan, Italy and Germany for fourteen years.

 


David Di Maria
Advocacy Chair
Dr. David L. Di Maria serves as Associate Vice Provost for International Education at University of Maryland, Baltimore County. 

Prior to joining UMBC, Dr. Di Maria served as Associate Provost for International Programs at Montana State university and Director of International Programs and Services at Kent State University.

He has also held several volunteer leadership positions including AIRC External Reviewer, Chair of NAFSA's International Enrollment Management Knowledge Community and Excutive Committee member of APLU's Commission on International Initiatives. He is former AIEA Presidential Fellow and the editor of Managing a Successful Intrnational Admissions Office: NAFSA's Guide to International Admissions.  


Ryan Griffith, Chair, Certification Commission

Ryan is Director of International Programs and Services at Pacific University and it's senior international officer. He oversees the recruitment of international students and support their academic and social integration at Pacific; promotes education abroad programs; manages and leads IPS administrative operations; and oversees English as a Second Language programs.   

Prior to UIU, Griffith was director of the English Language Institute and coordinator of the Global Leadership Initiative at University of North Carolina at Pembroke, where he also taught courses in Asian Studies, International Relations Theory, and English as a Second Language. He also taught English language courses and developed programs for English education in Japan for many years during which he learned Japanese. Griffith earned a B.A. in International Relations from University of Southern California and an M.A. in International Relations and Asian Politics from University of Queensland, Australia.
