AIRC External Reviewers:
Call for Nominations
In order for the AIRC Certification process to succeed, we will need a substantial pool of qualified external reviewers.
AIRC is seeking excellent candidates for their External Reviewer Registry. It is an honor among peers to be selected to be an AIRC External Reviewer. Most institutions will consider this a valuable professional development activity akin to serving on an accreditation team.
AIRC members are welcomed to self-nominate and nominate others by the due date of May 15, 2009. Please send a bio on each nominee (not to exceed one page), including name, current position, address and contact information, including a general statement of experience related to international student affairs and student recruitment. Nominations should be sent to certification@airc-education.org.
External Reviewers are the diplomatic corps of AIRC. It is their responsibility to:
-
Have a strong working knowledge of the AIRC Standards for Certification;
-
Review the Self-Evaluation Reports of recruitment agencies applying for AIRC Certification;
-
Conduct a site visit at the agency site(s) for the dual purposes of evaluating compliance with the AIRC Certification Standards and conducting a professional development assessment of agency staff;
-
Write an evaluative report which includes a recommendation for Certification to the AIRC Certification Board; and
-
Be available to the AIRC Certification Board and Staff to answer questions related to the review of the recruitment agency.
Nominees for external reviewer should have the following attributes:
-
Stature and reputation within their home institution and among the U.S. professional community of international student affairs and related areas;
-
Substantial experience with matters related to international student recruitment;
-
Flexible and empathetic to diverse cultural contexts;
-
Fair and objective in decision-making;
-
Without conflicts of interest; and
-
Trustworthy.
For their services, AIRC External Reviewers are provided a modest honorarium from AIRC. The applying recruitment agency pays directly for expenses related to transport and lodging.
